RONGO, the most popular destination 2022

 Rongo has become very popular tourist destination within a very short period of time. The village is also known as the village of flowers, here almost every houses are surrounded by the varieties of flowers. One can easily understand that the people of this villege loves the flower abundantly.

The beautiful village situated at an altitude of 4500 ft approximately and comes under Kalimpong district and very close to Bhutanese border. This is actually a Cinchona plantation area and almost every people of the village are the employee of department of Cinchona plantation.  The plantation processed Dioscorea, quinine and ipicac. Besides this, recently a few years ago they have planted a Kiwi fruit garden at Rongo in a trial basis.

Majority of local people are Nepali, soft spoken and friendly. A very tiny market is established here during the set up of Cinchona plantation in 1938 though the local foods are always available in the market. high demand and heavy flow of visitors made compelled to the locals to establish more and more places to stay. And there's always been a trend of homestay culture like other state of India, that's exactly you will find here.

The place has many more activities in and around, developed different sightseeing points for visitors. there are short trekking trails in Rongo for the people those who loves to explore and gain the experience of hiking. There are places to see the birds of this region, if anybody wants to visit at those places, there are organizers who arrange the facilities of camping with the gears and other necessities. You can also visit the famous Dalgaon view point on the way to Rongo, you can always ask to the driver to stop for a while at Dalgaon. But it is only possible if you are coming by reserve taxi or personal car.

It has been always suggested to the visitors visiting Rongo to bring at least a sweater along with even in the summer season, because the temperature here are almost cold all the time of the year and you will never know when the temperature drops down. Best season to visit here is September end to first of May month are advisable. 

Nearest international airport is Netaji Subash Chandra Bose international airport in Kolkota. From there take a flight to Bagdogra Airport in Siliguri. The distance of Rongo from Siliguri is 105 kilometers.

Nearest railway station is New mal junction, Malbazar. From there you can take a cab on reserve basis or if you want to travel in a share basis then there are always share taxis are available in Malbazar and Chalsa. The distance between Malbazar to Rongo is almost 52 kilometers.
